About little paws boston terriers
We are a family-owned venture, and every Boston Terrier is raised in our home as a cherished member of our family. Our goal is to provide you with a puppy that is not only healthy but also has a delightful temperament, making them the perfect addition to any household.
The Boston Terrier, often referred to as the “American Gentleman,” is renowned for its affectionate and lively personality. Originating in the late 19th century in the United States, this breed is a cross between the English Bulldog and the now-extinct English Terrier. Their intelligence, adaptability, and charming appearance make them an ideal companion for families, singles, or even seniors.

ABOUT THE BREED
Size & Features: Boston Terriers are compact and stylish, with males weighing 15-25 lbs and females 10-20 lbs. Their short muzzles and upright ears give them a distinctive, charming look that dog lovers adore.
Expectations & Care: Boston Terriers are playful and affectionate, enjoying moderate exercise like short walks and fetch. While they’re smart, they can be a bit stubborn during training. Though not guard dogs, their friendly personality makes them great companions in secure spaces where their agility shines.
Living with Bostons: Boston Terriers are independent thinkers but responsive. Due to their short muzzles, they need care in hot or cold weather, so indoor living suits them best. Their snorts and snores add character, and they’re easy to groom with their short coats. They live 10-13 years with proper care.
Personality: Boston Terriers are cheerful, loyal, and great with children and other pets. Their playful nature includes fun habits like burying bones. Their love for family and friendly demeanor make them delightful companions.

OUR STORY
Welcome to Little Paws Boston Terriers – where passion meets pedigree! We are the proud proprietors of Little Paws, and since 2019, we have been dedicated to breeding and raising Boston Terriers with love and care. Our journey began with a deep admiration for this wonderful breed, and we are committed to helping families find their perfect furry companion.
Having spent years learning about and living with Boston Terriers, our mission is to guide individuals who are looking to welcome these intelligent and affectionate dogs into their homes. My love for Boston Terriers began in childhood, thanks to my cherished companion, Riri, who left a lasting impression on my heart.
Riri was my constant companion growing up, and when she passed away at the age of 12, it left a void only a Boston Terrier could fill. In a heartfelt gesture, my parents surprised me with Gizmo, another delightful Boston Terrier, during the summer holidays. Gizmo not only became my faithful friend but also introduced my future wife, then a schoolmate and neighbor, to the wonderful world of Boston Terriers.
Our shared love for these amazing dogs inspired us to turn our passion into a family breeding venture. Today, on our beautiful 3-acre property near a serene river, we raise our Boston Terriers with the utmost attention and care. Our securely fenced yard ensures their safety, and although Boston Terriers aren’t natural swimmers, we’ve trained them to enjoy the water. Weekends are spent by the river, creating treasured memories with our playful pups.
As registered breeders, we take pride in having helped over 96 families find their perfect Boston Terrier companions. Our dedication comes from a lifetime of personal experience with these wonderful dogs, ensuring that every puppy we raise finds a loving and suitable home. Join us on this journey to discover the ideal Boston Terrier puppy for your family—where love, care, and expertise come together at Little Paws Boston Terriers.
SHIPPING
Is it really safe for the puppy?
Absolutely. With years of shipping experience, we ensure that our puppies are not only safe but receive the utmost care and attention throughout their journey. Airlines have strict regulations to safeguard animal welfare, and we take extra steps to make sure the process is as smooth and stress-free as possible. We securely tape food and feeding instructions to the top of the crate, and frozen water is provided, which thaws gradually to keep the puppy hydrated. Puppies are given food during the flight, and I stay updated on flight details, including any delays or layovers, to ensure everything goes as planned.
What about shipping in the winter – isn’t it too cold?
Shipping in winter is perfectly safe as long as temperatures are within the range of 20 to 85 degrees, following airline guidelines. Our puppies travel in the climate-controlled crew cabin, where the temperature remains at a comfortable 70 degrees. To add an extra layer of protection, we use specialized temperature-regulated crates, making sure your puppy is safe regardless of the weather conditions.
What is involved in the shipping process?
We are located just 30 minutes from the nearest airport, and unlike many breeders, we don’t charge extra for delivery. We aim to make every trip count by delivering multiple puppies at once, and we are flexible in accommodating your preferred times. Once all payments are finalized, I book the flight a day in advance and provide you with all the flight details, including the pickup location. All you’ll need to bring is your ID and the airway bill number for smooth pickup.
At Little Paws Boston Terriers, our commitment goes beyond offering adorable companions. We strive to make the shipping process as seamless and stress-free as possible, ensuring that your new puppy is well cared for and ready to begin a wonderful adventure with you.

Our Commitment to Ethical Breeding at Little Paws Boston Terriers
At Little Paws Boston Terriers, we believe that responsible and ethical breeding is the cornerstone of a healthy and happy puppy. Our breeding practices are rooted in the well-being of our dogs and the long-term health of the Boston Terrier breed. We strive to produce puppies that are not only physically healthy but also have excellent temperaments and are well-socialized before they go to their forever homes.
Here’s what ethical breeding means to us:
1. Small-Scale, Family-Oriented Breeding
We maintain a small-scale breeding program to ensure that each puppy receives personalized attention and care. Unlike large-scale breeders or puppy mills, where dogs are treated more like commodities, our puppies are raised in a loving, home environment. This allows us to:
- Provide One-on-One Attention: Every puppy gets individualized care, from feeding to socializing.
- Monitor Their Health Closely: We track each puppy’s development daily and ensure they meet all important milestones.
- Ensure Proper Socialization: Our puppies grow up around family members and other pets, helping them develop strong social skills and become well-adjusted companions.
By keeping our program small, we can focus on quality over quantity, producing happy, healthy, and well-behaved Boston Terriers.
2. Health Testing and Genetic Screening
The health of our dogs is a top priority. We conduct extensive health testing on all of our breeding dogs to ensure they are free from genetic conditions that are common in Boston Terriers. This includes testing for:
- Hereditary Cataracts: A common issue in the breed, which can lead to blindness.
- Patellar Luxation: A knee condition that can affect mobility.
- Deafness: Ensuring that our puppies have strong hearing.
We believe in full transparency, which is why we are happy to share the health results and certificates for any of our breeding dogs upon request. This not only provides peace of mind to future owners but also helps maintain the long-term health of the Boston Terrier breed as a whole.
3. Raising Puppies in a Loving Environment
We don’t just focus on physical health; we care deeply about the emotional and psychological well-being of our puppies. At Little Paws Boston Terriers, puppies are raised in a home environment, not in isolated kennels. This ensures that they:
- Develop Positive Relationships with Humans and Pets: Our puppies are exposed to people of all ages, including children, as well as other pets, helping them become comfortable and adaptable in any household.
- Learn Basic Training and Manners: Before leaving our home, we begin the process of crate training and basic commands, setting your puppy up for success in their new home.
By providing a nurturing and loving environment, we help our puppies become well-rounded companions who will transition smoothly into their new families.
4. Responsible Breeding Practices
We follow strict breeding guidelines to ensure that our dogs and puppies are treated with the highest level of care. This includes:
- Proper Rest Between Litters: We make sure that our breeding dogs have ample time to recover and rest between litters. Over-breeding can lead to health problems for both the mother and the puppies, which is something we actively avoid.
- High-Quality Nutrition and Veterinary Care: Our dogs receive top-notch care, from a balanced diet of high-quality food to regular check-ups with a trusted veterinarian. We make sure all puppies are dewormed, vaccinated, and have a clean bill of health before they are ready to go to their forever homes.
We adhere to the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) Code of Ethics, ensuring that our practices align with the highest standards of breeding.
5. Lifelong Commitment to Our Puppies
Our responsibility doesn’t end when a puppy leaves our home. We are committed to every puppy for life. This means that if circumstances ever change and a family can no longer care for their Boston Terrier, we will always be here to help with rehoming or providing support. Additionally, we offer:
- Crisis Assistance: If an owner faces unexpected challenges, such as illness or financial difficulty, we will work with them to ensure the puppy is well cared for, either through temporary care or rehoming solutions.
- Ongoing Support: Whether it’s a question about training, feeding, or health, we provide ongoing support to all of our puppy owners. We are always available to offer advice or resources as your puppy grows into adulthood.
6. Breeding for Temperament and Companionship
While health is our priority, we also focus heavily on the temperament of our puppies. Boston Terriers are known for their friendly, affectionate nature, and we aim to enhance these traits through selective breeding. Our dogs are chosen not only for their physical attributes but also for their loving, playful personalities.
- Family-Friendly Dogs: All of our puppies are bred to be loving, loyal companions who fit well into family life. They are great with children, other pets, and strangers, making them ideal for any household.
Why Ethical Breeding Matters
Choosing an ethical breeder is the best way to ensure that you’re getting a healthy, well-adjusted puppy. Puppies from unethical or backyard breeders are often raised in poor conditions, leading to health issues, behavioral problems, and a shorter lifespan.
At Little Paws Boston Terriers, we believe that ethical breeding is the only way to responsibly bring new life into the world. By carefully selecting breeding pairs, providing outstanding care, and committing to each puppy’s well-being for life, we aim to make a positive impact on the Boston Terrier breed and give each family the joy of a happy, healthy puppy.
TRAINING TIPS
Training Your Puppy: A Guide for New Owners
People often ask, “At what age should I start puppy training?” The answer is simple: immediately! Here are some essential tips for training and maintaining an obedient, balanced dog from the start.
Many new puppy owners focus on finding the right accessories, treats, or beds but neglect the crucial aspect of training. While nutritious food and a safe, warm environment are essential, an equally important biological necessity is having a strong pack leader.
Puppies are instinctively wired to follow a pack leader, who is strong, stable, and consistent—qualities that new owners sometimes overlook. Even the most assertive individuals in their professional lives can find themselves overly indulgent with their new puppy, leading to confusion about why their dog is misbehaving.
Dogs can sense our confidence levels, and if they perceive us as weak, they may take control. This can lead to undesirable behaviors such as excessive barking, chewing, leash-pulling, or anxiety.
The most important step you can take is to establish yourself as your puppy’s pack leader. This role should not begin at six months of age or when behavioral issues arise; it must be maintained from day one throughout the entire training experience. For your puppy to grow into a healthy, balanced dog, leadership must be demonstrated consistently from the outset.
Housebreaking Tips
All dogs instinctively avoid eliminating in their dens. Between two and four months of age, most puppies easily grasp the concept of housebreaking as it aligns with their natural instincts.
In the early days of housebreaking, ensure your puppy has a safe, familiar place to relieve herself. Start each morning by taking her outside to the same area. Consistency is key, as it helps your puppy develop a habit.
Once your puppy successfully goes outside, reward her good behavior. A simple, quiet approval or a treat will reinforce the message that she did well.
Importantly, avoid punishing your puppy for accidents or creating a negative association with her bodily functions. Stay calm and assertive; if an accident occurs, gently redirect her to the appropriate spot.
Safe Exercise for Your Puppy
Finding safe ways to exercise your puppy is crucial. As her pack leader, it’s your responsibility to help her expend energy productively. Daily walks are essential for all dogs.
When walking your puppy, lead the way to establish your role as the pack leader. Always be the first one out the door and the first one back in. Your puppy should walk beside or behind you during the walk.
Consult your veterinarian about potential risks, including long-term bone development issues, parvovirus, and other health concerns, before starting an exercise routine.
Veterinary Care
Regular veterinary care is one of the cornerstones of good health for your puppy. A proper nutritional diet and exercise regimen are vital for keeping her healthy and balanced. The journey to your puppy’s health begins with her first vet visit. For guidance, refer to the following list of veterinary or health-related concerns that will arise during your puppy’s first year.
